Investigate local architecture cold and mountainous regions of Iran and its role in the design of architectural spaces (Case Study: Ilam local architecture).

Vernacular architecture as a local tradition passed and more on techniques trial and error and is transmitted from generation to generation. In the formation of vernacular architecture, some social and economic relations with the natural environment and natural symbols subtly reflect-ed. Vernacular architecture to dispose of expertise, will be realized. Meeting the needs of a so-ciety in relation with the natural and spiritual demands is significant. In this article we have tried to architectural features indigenous Iranian city of Ilam and cold climate have to be inves-tigated. The results showed that in cold regions also will be carefully selected materials, wall thickness, design views, designed to fit different spaces of housing compared to the sun, Due to favorable winds in the area and design elements that are directing this energy to the interior spaces. And even favorable climatic architectural design according to the design of strategic planning and attention to the implementation of practical environmental sustainability goals can be achieved. Thus, with minimal use of fossil energy perishable can take action to protect the environment for future harvest.
