Examining the Possibility of Virtual Religious Education in ICT Era

Nowadays education, teaching and learning have changed greatly and new forms of education, teaching and learning have emerged. In this new era which is called Information and Communication Technology era the previous face to face education has developed into a semi- virtual education. This new form of education is not merely based on face to face relations and new kinds of semi virtual relations have developed in different parts of education. Some scholars called this new situation as an actuvirtuality situation which has affected today’s education. Among different kinds of education, religious education has been affected too and new forms of virtual education are pivotal indispensable forms of religious education for today’s world. But the main question is whether virtual religious education can be a reliable and true education for religious affairs and can this new form satisfy religious needs of society? The findings of this article show that virtual religious education is a common form of religious education in today’s world. But there are some concerns of religious education which have to be considered in virtual educations. Virtual religious education can strength and develop religious education, but it cannot be an alternative for actual and face to face religious education. Because some concepts of religious education need face to face relations to be understood and a real educational relationship is needed to satisfy them.
