In this study, graphene oxide-magnetic nanoparticle composites were prepared by attaching magnetic
nanoparticles to graphene oxide sheets (GO) through a facile co-precipitating iron salts in a basic solution (pH of 11). FTIR and SEM confirmed the presence of graphene oxide sheets decorated with Fe3O4 nanoparticles. Magnetism, specific surface area and agglomeration of iron particles on graphene oxide was investigate for 3 different ratios of iron/graphene nanoparticles (1:1, 1:5). Analysis showed that the ratio of ( 1:1) with specific surface area of 331 m2/g, had a desirable structure which yielded the best result.
