N -(2-oxo-1, 2-di (pyridine-2-yl) ethylidene) furan-2-carbohydrazide was employed as a
lipophilic ionophore to preparation of a novel Gd3+ ion selective electrode. The electrode
demonstrated the Nernstian behavior in concentration range of 1.0×10-6 and 1.0×10-2 M with the
slope of 19.5±0.3 mV/decade and the lower detection limit of 8.0×10-7 M.
