The use of gold nanoparticles to increase the sensitivity of polymer gels is still controversial.
The interaction of photons with gold nanoparticles may lead to an increase in the dose of the
polymer gel. In fact, according to the emitted photon energy and atomic number of gold
nanoparticles, photon energy less than 0.5 MV could result in photoelectric interaction which in
turn might be raise the energy absorbing material.
