چكيده فارسي :
Previous works of William Faulkner and James Joyce have been critically analyzed from different perspectives such as moralism, culturalism, feminisms, modernism and pragmatism. However, not much has been done on the narratological analysis of their works. To address this gap, this study is an attempt to investigate Genette’s elements of narratology in Faulkner’s short story “A Rose for Emily” and James Joyce’s short story “The Dead”. In her narratological analysis, the researcher has focused on time, focalization, mode of narration (‘mimetic’ or diegetic’), the narrator of the story and speech and thought representation in the selected literary works.
