The class of weighted exponential (WE) distribution was introduced by Gupta and have received a great deal of attention in recent years. In this paper, we define a flexible extension of the weighted exponential distribution called generalized weighted exponential (GWE) distribution. We obtained explicit expressions for the moments, coefficient of variation, skewness, kurtosis and order statistics. Finally a real data set has been analysed to show how the proposed model works in practice
