In this paper the problem of estimating the Stress-Strength reliability (R) based on ranked set sampling is studied in the exponential model. For estimation purposes, the preliminary test estimator R is proposed. The aim is to derive the closed form asymptotic distributional properties. It is shown that the asymptotic properties of the aforementioned estimator keeps the same as the maximum likelihood estimator under the null-hypothesis and hence, a set of local alternative about R is studied
