چكيده با ظهور و گسترش اسلام در ايران يكي از بارزترين عناصر معماري كه جايگاه ويژه اي در فرهنگ معماري و آداب و سنن اجتماعي دارد مناره است.مناره يكي از نمادهاي زيبايي هنر معماري اسلامي ايران است كه يادآور ارزش هاي معنوي و توحيدي مي باشد.از شاخصه هاي اصلي شهرهاي ايراني اسلامي به شمار مي آيند.احداث مناره در ايران به عنوان يك نماد ديني كه از دوره ي پيش از اسلام رواج داشته و در دوران اسلامي حضور گسترده اي يافته است و به عنوان يكي از مهم ترين نشانه هاي شهري براي معرفي فضاهاي مذهبي و ديني مورد استفاده قرار گرفته و به شهرهاي ايراني اسلامي هويت بخشيده است كه ازشاهكارهاي معماري ايران بوده و از نظر تزيينات و كاربري حايز اهميت هستند و به گونه اي نشان دهنده هويت معماري اسلامي در ايران مي باشد.در اين مقاله هدف بررسي منابع تعريفي از مناره،انواع كاركرد و ساختار آن ارايه داده و نهايتا با نشان دادن ويژگي هاي مناره در دوره هاي تاريخي معماري ايران سير تحول اين عنصر ارزشمند را بيان مي كند وروش تجزيه و تحليل داده هاي اين مقاله توصيفي-تحليلي بوده و ابزار گردآوري اطلاعات آن كتابخانه اي مي باشد.
