Groundwater resources are of the most important for drinking water supply. In this study, factors affecting the quality of groundwater resource of Fariman-Torbatejam plain have been investigated by collecting 26 groundwater samples. Major ions and TDS concentrations, were determined by standard. The results show that the concentration of cations from the process (Na Ca Mg K) and the concentration of anions from the process (SO4 Cl HCO3). Based on Piper type chart and water facies, at the beginning of the plain (charge area), the sodic bicarbonate, is in the direction of groundwater flow of chlorine of the sodic and at the end of the plain (drainage area) sulfate of sodic. Diyagram Dervo, the cation and the dominant anion are respectively sodium and sulfate. According to this chart, the process of mixing and dissolution in samples has been taken. Saturation index values also show that groundwater is in equilibrium with carbonate (calcite, dolomite and aragonite). Based on the correlation coefficient, there is a strong correlation between sodium and chlorine (r = 0.936), sodium and sulfate (r = 0.943), and sulfate and chlorine (r = 0.949). Which indicates the common origin of these ions in groundwater samples of Friman-Tarbatejam plain.
