مسجد، محل تجلي مجموعهاي از هنرهايي است كه مصداق مسلم هنر شهودي است. به عبارت ديگر، در مساجد نه تنها دين با هنر ملاقات ميكند بلكه مهم ترين نمودهاي هنر اسلامي، معماري مساجد و ويژگي هاي بارز آن است. مجموعه اي از جلوه هاي هنري را ميتوان در مساجد مشاهده نمود كه از آن بايد به هنر پرستش گاهي يا هنر قدسي ياد كرد . مسجد به طور طبيعي در جريان ظهور اسلام و تكامل و توسعه آن در بستر زمان شكل گرفت و نظرياتي منعكس شد كه متناسب نيازها و شرايط صدر اسلام تبيين كننده مباحث اوليه درباره ابعاد مختلف مسجد مانند: تبيين و تعريف مسجد، معيارهاي ساخت و معماري و فضاي آن، شرايط حضور در مسجد، الگوها و هنجارهاي رفتاري در مسجد، نقش ها، كاركردهاي آن و هم چنين جايگاه مسجد در دين اسلام بوده است . مسجد بعنوان مهمترين مركز اسلام و مقدس ترين مكان هر منطقه داراي ارزش و اهميت بالايي است، به طوري كه به عنوان «بيت الله» يا خانه خدا مطرح است. اين پژوهش ســعي بر آن دارد تا با تحقيق توصيفي و تحليلي به بررســي و ارزيابي توزيع فضايي مساجد شهر كاشان بپردازد . بدين منظور با استفاده از نرم افزار هاي گوگل ارث و سيستم اطلاعات جغرافيايي ( GIS ) منطقه مورد مطالعه را موقعيت يابي و با استفاده از اطلاعات سازمان ميراث فرهنگي و گردشگري كاشان مساجد منطقه در روي گوگل ارث مشخص و به تحليل فضايي آن ها پرداخته مي شود .
