در جهان امروز تلاش براي حفظ هويت يكي منازعات اصلي ملتهاست . و مسجد سرچشمه تمدن اسلامى است. ومعماري اسلامي با اين نوع بنا ؛ با مسجد النبي در مدينه آغاز گرديد. با رواج اسلام در نواحي مختلف ؛ پلان مسجد النبي نيز به نواحي مختلف منتقل گرديد . اگر به هريك از شهرهاى اسلامى بنگريم، مسجد ومجموعه هاي آن را اساس شهرسازي مي يابيم به عبارت ديگر، دربافت شهرهاي اسلامي مسجد همواره يكي از عناصر مهم وتاثيرگذاردرشهرهاي اسلامي بوده وبه عنوان يك فضاي مهم ومردمي , با عملكرد هاي متعدد اجتماعي ، اقتصادي ، سياسي وكالبدي درزندگي مردم وبناي مسجد درشكل دهي به شهر ونظام دهي به محلات نقش محوري داشته است. در تعيين هويت شهر و در نتيجه ارتقاء فرهنگ شهروندان نقش فراواني دارند و اين مهم از دير باز مورد توجه معماري وطراحان شهري قرارميگرفته است. اين مقاله باروش هاي توصيفي- تحليلي و ميداني به انجام رسيده است.نتايج بدست آمده حاكي از آن است . كه در شرايط كنوني سيماي كالبدي محله دستخوش آشفتگي وناهماهنگي چشمگيري است . بطوريكه اين تغييرات نه تنها در وضعيت كالبدي محلات، بلكه در ابعاد اجتماعي آنها نيز نمايان گرديده است، ولي در اين ميان مسجد جامع قراملك نقش بسيار مهمي در شكل گيري وانسجام ساختار كالبدي – فضايي در محله داشته است. و به عنوان يكي از نشانه هاي مهم محله باعث افزايش خوانايي درحوزه طراحي گرديده است .
