In the fields of energy and environmental sustainability, large efforts are being made in the development ofnanomaterials as electrocatalysts for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells (DMFCs). The various methods have been studied for preparing platinum electro catalysts. One of the simple methods is using electrodeposition method. This method has been affected by many factors. One of these factors is the composition of electro-deposition solution. Poly vinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) is a water-soluble polymer that it affects on properties of electro-deposited particles. At this work, the presence of PVP on performance of electrodeposited platinum as electro-catalyst for methanol oxidation reaction has been investigated. The concentration of PVP is varied from 0.005to 0.02 M. The cyclic voltammetry method is used for electro-deposition processes. Electrochemical analysis such as cyclic voltammetry (CV), linear sweep voltammetry (LSV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used for studying the performance of prepared electro-catalysts. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used for physical properties of electro-catalyst. Using of PVP in deposition solution showed by increment the PVP concentration, current density related to methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) is decreased. To enhance the catalytic activity of prepared electro-catalyst, PVP concentration was optimized. In this paper, this subject was discussed more.
