Tsunamis can be generated in any coastal area, including inland seas and large lakes. The actual form of the wave train is determined by the initial generating mechanism, i.e., the area of the uplifted sea bottom, the height and variation of the uplift and the depth of water and coastal characteristics in the generating area. The effect of water depth in generation of longitudinal waves due to landslide is considered in details. A new model for prediction of tsunami wave height based on the analytical solution of the governing differential equation for generation of longitudinal waves in a finite depth of water is presented in this paper. The results of predictions are consistent with the previous finding reported in the literature indicating the possibility of tsunami occurrence in large lakes due to landslide.
