در ميان عناصر شهري عبادتگاه از اهميت ويژه اي برخوردار است و از ديگر عناصر شهري نمايان تر است به همين جهت معماري آن نيز مورد توجه ويژه بوده است. مسجد امير چخماق از بناهاي مهم تاريخي يزد است . كه از حيث مرتبه و اعتبار بعد از مسجد جامع شهر مي باشد ، كه در محله تاريخي امير چخماق واقع شده است .پس شناخت اين بنا و بافت اطراف و بررسي تحولات آن در طول تاريخ بسيار حائز اهميت است. مسجد جامع در كنار عناصر مهم شهري قرار گرفته است و اين مسجد نقش اساسي در پويايي بافت تاريخي محله امير چخماق يزد داشته است . به علت فعال بودن مسجد به عنوان فضايي جهت انجام اعمال عبادي و تعاملات اجتماعي نقش آن به عنوان يك عنصر اصلي در استخوان بندي بافت تاريخي حفظ گرديده است و در نتيجه حضور اين مسجد باعث انسجام و پويايي محله گرديده است ،و عملكرد آن با عناصر مهم شهري اعم از بازار ، تكيه ، آب انبار ،... نقطه عطفي در ايجاد يك مركز مهم جهت تعاملات اجتماعي ، سياسي ،اقتصادي ، فرهنگي ،... بوده است.

The holy places have special importance between the urban elements and more attractive than others therefore their architecture were so noteworthy. Amir-Chakhmaq mosque is one of the important historical places of Yazd which is on top rate after Jamee mosque of city which is located at the Amir chakhmaq historical neighborhood so recognition of this place and it s environs and study its evolution through history is so important. Jamee mosque is located by important urban elements and this mosque play an essential role in the dynamic of the historical part of the Amir-chakhmaq historical neighborhood. As part of its history been a key element in skeleton due to activity of mosque as a place to do worship and social interactions so presence of this mosque has caused solidarity and dynamics of this area and it s functional with important elements of Urbans ranging from market,Takiyeh, Cistern , ... Was a turning point in establishing a important center for social , political , economic, cultural ... Interaction .
