The launch of new high resolution Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites has opened up new opportunities in the field of radar remote sensing and its applications in earth sciences. Persistent scatterer has proven to be a powerful method for time-series analysis of surface deformation using a stack of SAR data. The technique makes an assumption about single dominant scatterer mechanism that could be problematic in urban areas due to the layover effect. In this paper we compare the capabilities and advantages of two different methods of tomographic processing both on simulated data and real data. The methods include Fourier-based method, Nonlinear least-square (NLS). Results show that NLS could provide a good accuracy. However one needs to have a prior knowledge about the model order. On the other hand Fourier-based method is fast method but severely suffers from side lobes.
