Ranking of road safety in the provinces of Iran using multi-criteria decision-making methods

Traffic accidents and fatalities raise the loss of life and property in the country, So that more than 23,000 killed and about 7% of GDP in the whole economy and society has caused irreparable social consequences. Therefore, considering it as one of the most important problems of the country s road transport sector is necessary. This article tries to rank provinces of the Iran according to criteria such as the number of Casualties of traffic accidents, the number fatality of accidents,Emergency and rescue bases of the road, the number of speed cameras, the number of monitoring cameras and average daily traffic volume in each of the selected axes provides good information to transportation planners. Obviously, improving road safety and the efficient allocation of limited resources to the provinces is done according to their ranking. For this purpose, AHP, TOPSIS and SBM models has been used to rank the provinces. The results of the models show the high efficiency of TOPSIS model to rank the provinces in terms of improving road safety.
