يك موضوع مهم در ايمني ترافيك، سرعت انتخابي رانندگان است. سرعت يكي از عوامل اصلي وقوع و افزايش شدت تصادفات مي‌باشد. سرعت زياد و غيرمجاز رانندگان عامل بيش از يك‌سوم تصادفات و 30 درصد تلفات راه مي‌باشد. سرعت اولين پاسخ راننده به طرح هندسي راه مي‌باشد و يكي از مهم‌ترين و پيچيده‌ترين عواملي است كه راننده در انتخاب مناسب آن به‌راحتي دچار خطا مي‌شود. رانندگان سرعت خود را بر اساس هندسه راه و شرايط محيطي و با برداشت ادراكي و نشانه‌ها و پيام‌هايي كه از محيط اطراف راه دريافت مي‌كنند انتخاب مي‌كنند. شناسايي مجموعه عوامل تأثيرگذار و ميزان تأثير هر يك از اين عوامل، باعث افزايش قدرت طراحان در طراحي مسيرهاي سازگار و مطابق با انتظارات رانندگان خواهد شد و رانندگان مي‌توانند سرعت خود را به‌طور مناسبي انتخاب كنند. در اين مقاله با مروري بر مطالعات، تأثير ويژگي‏هاي هندسي، محيط كناره راه، خصوصيات رانندگان و ويژگي‌هاي وسيله نقليه بر سرعت عملكردي رانندگان موردبررسي قرارگرفته است. با شناسايي عوامل مؤثر و ميزان تأثير هر يك و هم‌چنين با بهره‌گيري از روش‌هاي ادراكي مديريت كنترل سرعت، مي‌توان يك فرآيند طراحي راه مطابق با انتظارات رانندگان و باهدف ارتقاي سرعت‌هاي ايمن‌تر طرح‌ريزي نمود.

An important issue in traffic safety is the driver s speed. Speed ​​is one of the main factors in the occurrence and increase of the severity of accidents. The high speed and unauthorized drivers cause more than one-third of accidents and 30% of road casualties. The speed of the driver s first response to the geometric design of the road is one of the most important and complex factors in which the driver is in a good position to make a mistake in its proper selection. Drivers choose their speed based on road geometry and environmental conditions, with perceptual perceptions and signs and messages that get around the road. Detecting the set of effective factors and the impact of each of these factors will increase the designer s ability to design consistent paths to meet driver expectations, and drivers can choose their speed appropriately. In this paper, with an overview of the studies, the effects of geometric features, roadway environment, driver characteristics and vehicle characteristics on the performance of drivers are examined. By identifying the effective factors and the effect of each, as well as using the cognitive control techniques of speed management, a road design process can be designed in accordance with drivers expectations and aimed at promoting safer speeds.
