The natural convection heat transfer in porous media has found important application in fuel cells.
The increase of heat transfer in fuel cells could results in higher performance. In the present study, the
effect of thermophoresis and Brownian motion forces on the natural convection heat transfer of a
nanofluid over a vertical plate embedded in a Darcy porous medium is theoretically studied using the
drift-flux model. A case study is performed to analyze the boundary layer heat transfer of Ah03-water
nanofluids. The results indicate that dispersing the alumina nano particles in the water would decrease the
heat transfer from the wall. It is found that the decrease of the size of nanoparticles decreases the heat
transfer rate.
