Health monitoring and safety assessment of an old masonry bridge that is considered for a possible increasing of axle load from the current 20 tons to 25 tons is presented. Diagnostic load tests are carried out to determine the response of bridge to predefined loading schemes, employing deflection meters and accelerometers and results are used to calibrate the 3D finite element model developed in Abaqus. Numerical model of the bridge is employed to assess the bridge in serviceability limit state. Results suggest that eccentricity of the center of compression exceeds the allowable threshold in all spans of the bridge.
