Determination of heavy metals (Cr, Cd, Ni and Pb)concentration in soils of Masjed soleyman area

The present study was conducted to evaluate the heavy metals concentration (chromium, lead, nickel and cadmium) in soil in Masjed soleyman area. For this purpose 4 soil samples from 4 villages (Amir-Abad village, Reza-Abad village, and Abanjyrak village) were taken. Soil samples after preparation in the laboratory were sent to chemical analysis in Tehran. Comparison of concentrations with international standard showed that all of the elements are within normal limits except Cr. The concentration of chromium was above the limit. Indices calculated in this study, for assessment of the soil pollution are Geo-accumulation index, Contamination Factor (CF), and Ecological risks. Contamination factor values in the study area are low. Geo -accumulation index in the study of all elements in all areas is low the ecological risk factor for elements in this study area is low, and the potential ecological risk index for study areas is moderate. Statistical analyzes were performed using the SPSS20 software. The Pearson correlation coefficient was used to show the relationship between the elements. The results showed a strong correlation coefficient (r = 0.86), between Nickel and Lead in the soil. This may indicate that the source of these elements is same Nickel and lead in the soils investigated is caused by car pollutions. In Amir-Abad area because of the proximity to the road Nickel and lead concentrations were at the highest level.
