Mahmoudabad metamorphic complex is as a part of Sanandaj- Sirjan metamorphic zone that cropped out in the southeast of Shahindezh. Metapelites are the main lithology of Mahmoudabad complex. Some igneous rocks intrude into this metamorphic complex. Rock forming minerals of metapelites are Qtz, Ms, Bt and Crd. Post-tectonic Crd displays nodular texture and embedded inclusions of matrix minerals. Fibrolite overgrowth upon biotite and spotted Crd occurrence indicating a distinct thermal event that affected this metamorphic complex. Thermal conditions that calculated by Bt-Ms thermometry yields 613 until 673 °C. Crd experienced pinite alteration so thermal calculation of contact metamorphism has not been possible. Probably Mahmoudabad metamorphic complex representing continental active margin as a result of Neothethys subduction beneath Sanandaj-Sirjan zone. Regional metamorphism overprinted by contact metamorphism was arisen from granitic intrusions that generated in the continental arc setting.
