Biostratigraphy Foraminifers Oligocene – Miocen sediments of Southeast, Iran

In this research, one stratigraphy section were selected from the Asmari Formation of Bahar Anticline southeast of Farashband and they are in the interior Fars from Zagros foreland basin in Southwest of Iran. The Asmari Formation in Bahar Anticline (185 m thickness) is included seven Sections.Twenty-eightforaminifera genera and species are discovered in the field of study and the assemblage areas have been characterized as following: (1) Nummulites vascus-Nummulites fichteli- Nummulites intermedius, (2) Archaias operculiniform-Archaias hensoni-Archaias kirkensis, (3) Austrotrillinaasmariensis-Austrotrillina howchini- Austrotrillina paucialveolata-Peneroplis thomasi.Basically index benthic forminifera, discovered in the field of study, are listed as following: Nummulites sp.,Neorotalia viennoti, Heterostegina sp., Quinqueloculina sp., Amphistegina lessonii, Austroterillina howchini, Peneroplis thomasi, Archaias sp., Pyrgo sp., Elphidium sp., Valvulinid sp., Spirolina cylindracea, Dendritina rangi, Austroterillina sp., Triloculina tricarinata, Valvulinid sp., Miliola sp.10.With regard to the foraminifera scattering in the studied section, three biozones have been identified for these sediments and suggested Oligocene–early Miocene (Rupelian- Aquitanian) age for the Asmari Formation in Bahar Anticline. These biozones are reported for the first time from the Tertiary sediments in the southwestof Shiraz.
