In this study, the active faults of the northeastern Iran, from the Kopeh-Dagh mountains in the north to the more flat parts in the south of the Lut block, have been investigated. The presence of the Kopeh-Dagh, Binalud and eastern mountains of Iran illustrates the kinematic and activity of this zone. Structurally, the displacement along the right-lateral faults of eastern Iran is directly related to the deformation and shortening in Iran. In the sense that due to the rigidity and stability of the Afghan block, the movement of the central Iranian plateau toward the Turan Block causes a shear in eastern Iran, which causes the strike slip rightlateral movement of the faults in the region. The eastern part of Iran is the point of intersection of right-lateral strike-slip faults with the north-south direction in the area of the Lut block in relation to the east-west left-lateral faults in the north of the Lut block. Due to the movement of these faults, a clockwise rotation of northern part of the Lut block, along with compression and shortening in the soft part of the Kopeh-Dagh and Binaloud, causes the formation of thrust faults in the northeastern Iran. The result of this shortening in north-eastern Iran is the movement of the Gorgan plain to the west and the creation of a right-lateral movement in opposition to the Turan plate as well as the leftlateral movement in the southern part of Gorgan plain. One of the main objectives of this study is to estimate the rotation in the northern part of the Lut block with respect to the long displacement of strike-slip and active eastern part of Iran, observing the effect of rotation on the deformations created in the Kopeh-Dagh and the movement of Gorgan plain to the west. It was done by physical modelling, two models have been proposed to reconstruct the occurrence of deformitations in the zone.
