In the present paper, the qusi-static behavior of a composite beam with saturated porous core is investigated. Dimensional
reduction method is employed to calculate equivalent stiffnesses of the composite beam cross section with considering warping
effects. Dimensional reduction is a method in which, 3-D elasticity problem is reduced to 1-D beam analysis by calculating in and out
of plane cross sectional 3-D warpings with polynomial functions. The porous core is saturated with a viscose fluid and it only allows
fluid flow in axial direction. Owing to presence of the viscose fluid, material behavior is dependent on time. Porous beam governing
equations are modified using equivalent stiffnesses and are solved analytically. Results are obtained for a simply supported beam
under suddenly applied load. The results suggest significant changes in composite beam behavior. Such models are promising for use
in advanced composite structures.
