Today, margin settlement is referred to the sectors in city not located in the margin of city necessarily, but they are marginalized from economic, social, cultural and other dimensions of urban life. The present study is aimed to evaluate the impact of margin settlement and informal settlement in Eslamshahr town. The present study is a descriptive-correlation design. The sampling method is simple random. A researcher-built questionnaire is used to evaluate the views, opinion and behaviors of slum settlement and secondary analysis technique is used to examine the studies, reports and researches on margin settlement. The study population is based on two groups: The first group is the households living in the slums of Eslamshahr city; second group is the studies on margin settlement and urban studies. The sample size of margin settlement households is 175 households based on Cochran’s formula. The results of study show that seriously unsuitable socio-economic conditions in the life of slum dwellers based on the objective indices including low income and financial capability, low employment coefficient and average level of education, the presence of social insecurities including robbery to drugs, harassment, etc. have directed the behavioral models of slum dwellers in interaction with urban organizations and other citizens to an unsuitable direction. The survey results of the present study show that more than 50% of the respondents have observed at least once occurrence of crimes (robbery, addiction, drugs abuse and harassment).
