The effect of haunch depth on column-tree moment resisting connection s behavior has been presented in this paper. Finite element analysis was used for analytical studying of connections under cyclic loading sequences. Results of analysis indicated that utilization of deep haunches doesn t make a big difference in general behavior of connection. Load bearing capacity of connections with deeper haunches showed slight improvement in comparison with connections with shorter haunches. According to analysis results, the flexural strength of specimens with deeper haunch were also greater in comparison with the same configurations and shorter haunches. Cyclic loops of beam tip load versus beam tip displacement represented the ability of connections to exhibit a desirable ductile behavior. Plastic strain evaluation of groove weld of the haunch flange and beam top flange to the column indicated that connections with deeper haunches experience greater amounts of plastic strain which shows a greater demand of plastic strain in this configuration.
