Research on Public Space in Historic District Based on Daily Life Behavior Pattern——Take Hankou s Original Russian Concession Area as An Example

The original Russian concession is one of the five concessions in Hankou District of Wuhan, and is also one of the two Russian concessions in China. The region still holds a relatively original urban pattern and historical features, and most interior streets are narrow and houses are worn out in Li Fen, which is called alleyway by local people. The cultural atmosphere and common people s style of the city, public space and daily life, top-down management and bottom-up resistance are mutually contradictory and permeating in this area. Previous studies have focused more on the public space in historical blocks and neglected the user s daily life behavior patterns. Therefore, this study adopts Mapping analysis and Space Syntax to analyze the public space in the historical block of the original Russian concession, PSPL research method and tracking interview method to observe and study the daily life behavior patterns. And then, from the perspective of user’s needs, this paper proposes the micro-renewal strategies of the typical public space in the historical district of the original Russian concession, and advocates more diversified and targeted urban public space to meet the needs of different groups of users..
