Studying the Effective Factors on Socialization of University Open Space (Sample Case: Art and Architecture and Engineering Faculty Campus of, Bu-Ali Sina University)

In recent years, the main purpose of creating the academic spaces was the quantitative development of higher education institutions in Iran. In these years, in order to meet the needs of young people, many universities are created in unsuitable closed spaces with lack of open spaces. Academic space is almost always an installation of buildings with an open space among them, this outer space is usually ignored in the plan. In this research, it has been tried to adopt the criteria and the components of University s open space by checking the definitions and theories of researchers about the socialization of it. The dimensions of socialization are divided into two dimensions of physical and actional in this research. After doing examination, we achieve the research question, which was “Does the open space properties of the university affect the socialization of this space?” This research is a quantitative and qualitative research that descriptive-analytic research method has been used for it and described the socialization of university community and identified the factors influencing it. In the case study, which is the main part of the research, the field method was used and the method of questionnaire, observation and presence in space were used for collecting information. The questionnaire was distributed among students at the Faculty of Arts and Architecture and Faculty of Engineering of Bu ali University. First, the data from observation and presence in space was analyzed by qualitative method, then descriptive statistics and inferential statistics were used to analyze the resulting data from the questionnaire. The results of the analysis indicate that paying attention to socialization criteria in the design and planning of spaces makes the spaces reach their designated goals, ie attracting people.
