Nitrogen adsorption desorption isotherms are usually used for determining the specific surface and the shape of the pores. Gamma alumina is one of those catalysts which its surface properties are dependent on the method of preparation, precursors, etc. In this article, different adsorption desorption isotherms of gamma alumina has been reviewed. Also since the alumina granules are ground for reactor tests, FTIR test and so forth, the effect of grinding has been investigated. It is concluded that although grinding leads to a decrease in specific surface of the catalyst, the structure of micro pores and meso pores of the catalyst is not affected and this decrease in the specific surface is due to the changes in macro pore structure of the catalyst.

Nitrogen adsorption desorption isotherms are usually used for determining the specific surface and the shape of the pores.
