Wound dressing applications of chitosan and its derivatives: A short review

كيتوسان بيوپليمري با كاربردهاي ساختاري است كه از كيتين كه دومين بيوپليمر فراوان در طبيعت است بدست مي آيد. اين ماكرومولكول با ارزش، زيست سازگار، زيست تخريب پذير، غير سمي است و بنابر گزارشاتي داراي تاثيرات آنتي باكتريالي و بهبود زخم است. به راحتي تهيه مي شود و گران قيمت نيست. به علاوه داراي قابليت توليد فيلم و شفافيت است كه مي تواند به صور مختلف اصلاح گردد و براي اهداف مختلف مورد استفاده قرار گيرد. تمام اين خواص باعث مي شود كه كيتوسان به عنوان يك كانديد عالي جهت استفاده براي ساخت مواد زخم پوش با قابليتهاي متفاوت مورد استفاده قرار گيرد. اين مقاله مروري بر خواص بالقوه كيتوسان براي زخم پوش و مختصري درباره كاربردهاي آن در مراقبت از زخم مي باشد.

Chitosan is a biopolymer with structural function that could be derived from chitin that is the second most available biopolymer in the nature. This valuable macromolecule is biocompatible, biodegradable, non-toxic and is reported to have antibacterial and wound healing effects. It is easy to supply and not expensive. Furthermore, it is suitable in terms of transparency and film forming ability as it can be modified into different forms and be used for different purposes. All of these features, make chitosan a promising candidate to be utilized for fabrication of wound dressing materials with different capabilities. This paper is intended to review the potential properties of chitosan wound dressing and talk shortly about its applications in wound care supplies.
