In this paper a frequency splitter for second and third telecommunication windows is designed. For this
purpose metal-insulator-metal (MIM) waveguides containing half-ring shaped grooves are used. The
presence of a single groove causes transmittance spectra of the waveguide to have maximum and minimum
points, however using a few periodic grooves in a MIM waveguide transmits or blocks a band of
wavelengths, so acting as a filter. With tuning groove parameters the MIM waveguide containing the grooves
can transmit or block a desired wavelength
