The non-Iranian Primary Tritipyrum wheat lines (2n=6x=42, AABBEbEb), were derived from non-Iranian durum wheat cultivars as female parents (2n=4x=28, AABB) and wild coach grass Thinopyrum bessarabicum species as male parent at 1997 in JIC Institute, England, as the third man made amphiploid, after Triticale (2n=6x=42, AABBRR) and Tritordeum (2n=6x=42, AABBHcHc) which can set seed. In this study, for the first time, in order to produce 6x and 8x Iranian tritipyrum wheat in a wide crossing program including:150 plants of 25 Iranian 6x bread wheat cultivars from Iran, 80 plants of 8 Iranian durum wheat accessions from IPK gene bank (Germany) and 100 plants of two ecotypes of Thinopyrum bessarabicum species from Iran and USA in vernalized and unvernalized conditions, the number of 266 various crosses between individual plants from above Iranian wheat cultivars and Thinopyrum bessarabicum species by emasculating 5812 floretsof 230 individual 4x and 6x wheat plants and then pollination were carried out.The results of wide crossing program led to 679 F1 seeds including 6x and 8x Iranian primary tritipyrum wheat lines. Although the rate of cross ability and fertility was 20% but the seeds can be used as a high potential for improving the wheat germplasm and developing the new varieties of Iranian primary 6x or 8x tritipyrum wheat for salt effected soils and drought areas around the world.
