In Vitro Micropagation of Nepeta menthoeides A Medicinal Plant from East Azarbaijan Pastures

Nepeta menthoeides is a medicinal plant belongs to Lamiaceae family. Using of medicinal plants is increasing because of their several benefits. Some of medicinal plants grow in meadows and pastures are destroyed by indiscriminate harvesting of these plants. One of the methods for solving this problem is in vitro culture. In this research different explants of young plants (hypocotyl, cotyledon, leaf, internode and node) used on media cultures with varied dosage of plant hormones. Some of media cultures and explants showed the best results for callus induction and regeneration. As we evaluated, medium culture for callus induction was MS with BAP (1, 2, 3mg/l)+NAA0.1mg/l for hypocotyls and cotyledons explants. The best medium for regeneration was BAP + NAA with 1, 0.1 mg/l respectively for hypocotyls and BAP 3mg/l in composition with NAA0, 1mg/l for cotyledons. In this way we managed to generate a lot of new plants successfully.
