Biochar due to porous structure and high surface area has been considerably suggested to be used as agricultural soil amendment in order to preserve more water, and increase water use efficiency. Therefore, a greenhouse experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of different irrigation and biochar levels on faba bean growth and yield. The experiment was performed with 5 biochar levels (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 ton ha-1) and 3 irrigation levels (100, 75 and 50% of water requirement), using completely randomized design in three replications. Results showed that in comparison with control (no biochar application), the use of biochar at the 25 ton ha-1 level increased leaf area index, number of flowers, pods, pod length, wet and dry weight of grain, 100 grain weight, significantly (p 5%). On the other hand, drought stress had a significant impact on faba been growth and yield performance, as with increasing water stress to 50% of water requirement; leaf area index, number of flowers, pods, pod length, wet and dry weight of grain, 100 grain s weight decreased significantly, while green canopy temperature showed a significant increase with drought stress treatment. In summary, application of biochar at level of 25 ton ha-1 is suggested as a suitable agent to decrease water consumption and increase of the crop performance.
