Aim: this study was designed to examine middle school children’s attitude toward physical activity and also their physical activity levels.
Material and methods: a sample of 357 middle school children (male=155 and female=202) participated in this study. After translating the physical activity for Adolescents (PAQ-A) and children’s attitude toward physical activity (CATPA) standard questionnaires and adjusting a few questions, their reliablity verified by the experts and also their reliability were calculated by Cronbach s Alpha (α=0.71 and α=0.76 respectivily for PAQ-A and CATPA questionnaires). Some statistical techniques such as Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Spearman’s correlation coefficients and independent samples t-test were used for analysing data.
Results: the results showed that there is a significant relationship (r=0.25 and P: 0.001) between the levels of physical activity and attitude toward physical activity in students. Also, there were significant differences between physical activity levels among males and females But, there were no significant differences between attitude toward physical activity among males and females.
Conclusions: it is concluded that participating in Physical activity is positively associated with childrens attitudes toward physical activity. According to research is findings, it is recommended that we should create a positive attitude in students. For this reason, we have been interested in exploring how and why children may or may not develop such a positive collection of beliefs.
