Insulin resistance is a physiological condition which the hormone insulin is less effective in lowering blood glucose. Insulin resistance is one of the major disorders in obesity. Increase in abdominal fat helps to development of metabolic abnormalities including insulin resistance. The role of physical activity is justified to reducing and prevalence of type II diabetes that is probably due to twofold effects of exercise. First, regular physical activity can prevent weight gain, however, obesity and insulin resistance is related with each other. It has been shown that is clear relation between action of insulin and body fat. Secondly, independent of body fat, exercise training improves insulin sensitivity in skeletal muscle. The aim of this study was to investigate effect of 12 weeks aerobic training with intermediate and hard intensity on body weight, body fat percentage and insulin restistance in obese women. Forty one subjects assigned into moderate (64-76% of maximum heart rate) and hard (80-90% of maximum heart rate) intensity and control group. After the initial blood sampling at rest and fasting, subjects to do running exercise three times a week and blood sampling were taken again at the end. ANOVA test was used for data analysis. The results showed decreased weight (P=0/004) and body fat (P=0/001) in both exercise groups and decreased insulin (P=0/04) in hard intensity group than control group. Exercise had no effect on plasma glucose concentration and insulin resistance. Also, the results showed that subject can have more time to do a moderate intensity, because increase energy expenditure that resulting in more weight loss than other intensity. According to the results, we can say moderate intensity exercise improves weight. The results is important for design exercise training programs to prevention and treatment of diabetes.
