The anterior cruciate knee ligament (ACL) injury is the most common sports injuries. Joint position of the body, neuromuscular control and muscle function during exercise can increase the forces on the ligament ACL injury rate and be effective. The most common mechanism for anterior cruciate ligament injury, was non-contact and involved 72% of all injuries of this ligament and during activities such as deceleration, landing from a jump and shear movements occur. The aim of this study was to investigate the neuromechanic factors associated with non-contact ACL injuries in athletes. In this paper, electronic database of Pub Medline (1966-2016), Sport Discus (1985 to 2016) and Science Direct (1982 to 2016) to identify studies that examined risk factors of ACL injury were used.
Results from various studies indicate that, Important factors such as valgus load, weak muscles, weakness in core stability and dangerous jump-landing patterns can be caused to ACL injury.
The most important measures related to the prevention of all sports injuries is the identification of risk factors and mechanisms and then trying to reduce or eliminate them.
So awareness of athletes from the risk factors and methods of prevention ACL injuries will be necessary.
