This paper is based on the report by Eghbalzadeh, R. and Hassan Zadeh, A. (2018) of the study of multiple decrement table estimations for Iranian Social Security Organization (ISSO) insured population, sponsored by the Social Security Research Institute (SSRI). In this paper methods and data issues in constructing a multiple decrement table for insured population in Iranian Social Security Organization (ISSO) will be presented. A multiple decrement table for insured persons summarizes life experiences of the insured by at least two decrements/causes. This is in contrast with all previous studies in Iran that are related to the single decrement death tables. Multiple decrement tables in a pension fund begin with a group of active employees, who pay their contributions. The causes of decrements act like competing risks. There are thus multiple states for which rates of transition from active to other states such as disability, retirement and death are calculated. The causes of decrements in the ISSO that we have considered are retirement, total disablement, and death. This table for the insured population begins with a number of active employees, which is called a radix, at a specified age, and gives the number of employees who move out from active state due to a specific decrement in subsequent ages. An observation at time T can stay in a specific state or leave that state due to one of m mutually exclusive causes. Construction of this multiple decrement is based on the records of insured lives covering the period 2011-15.
