Abstract
Today, the organizations have undoubtedly influenced all dimensions of human life, and organizations in turn, while being part of human life in the modern world, are strongly influenced by the cultures governing societies and governments. Thus, the engineering of organizations in Islamic societies, based on the Qur anic teachings, is an undeniable necessity. For the Qur an, the divine miracle, is full of knowledge and guidance in various fields of individual, group, organizational and trans-organizational life. Considering the validity of the Qur an among scholars and its position, as the most fundamental source of Muslim religious scholarship, today this important question raises that: What is the realm of the Quran s teachings in the field of organizational life? What instructions and guidelines has the Qur an offered on human beings’ organizational life, relationships and behavior?
It should be noted that in relation to the realm of the teachings of the Qur an, different views have been presented on humanities in general and on organizational life, in particular. Therefore, some subscribe to a (minimalistic view), according to which the Quran not 0nly has not touched organizational and managerial issues, but also it has not fully addressed the religious categories. Contrary to them, some favor a (maximal viewpoint) maintaining that the Quran has addressed different aspects of human life including: individual, group, organizational, worldly and afterlife, and all scientific and specialized issues, even natural sciences. Many have chosen the moderate approach which in between these two attitudes. According to them, the Quran has fully addressed three areas of beliefs, ethics, and practical commandments. Moreover, since the Quran plays the role of an everlasting guide for human being to win them guidance and salvation, it has only presented the general principles, policies and foundations of the humanities, including the knowledge of management and organization; i.e. the details of these sciences are left to human intellectual endeavor.
The present article, employing Grounded Theory (GT) method, which is one of the reliable methods in this type of researches, has attempted to study the verses of the Quran and explain the dimensions of organizational life from the perspective of the Quran in the light of objective examples and instances from the science of management. Given the Quranic perspective, the author has addressed the following managerial and organizational issues: 1. the different dimensions of organizational life which include the attitudes, values, goals and objectives of organizational human being. 2. The organizational interaction and relationships at three levels of individuals, groups and organization. 3. The requirements of supervision, methods of monitoring, controlling individuals, and finally the development of organization.
