Abstract It is believed that the use of technology plays an important role in one’s learning a foreign language and it has become an important issue since the last quarter of the twentieth century. This study aims at conducting an investigation in order to realize that to what extent computer assisted language learning (CALL) has effect on improving Iranian EFL learners’ listening ability. To this end, 10 advanced adult EFL learners were chosen from an intact class at Simin institute - Valiasr branch. During the three-week treatment process, all participants had access to computer in their home and workplace. Moreover, each participant received some task-based listening activities with a questionnaire once a week through his/her email. The results of students post-test revealed that they had a remarkable progress in their listening comprehension after undertaking the treatment procedure. By the end, we can say that CALL is a motivating method and computers are worthwhile tools to be used in second/foreign language classes to develop students’ listening skill.
