Strategic-based instruction is an important factor in learning a foreign language. This study was conducted to investigate whether strategic- based instruction affects the reading skill of upper-intermediate EFL learners. To fulfill this objective, a 140-item language proficiency test was distributed among some Iranian students. This study was carried out on the basis of Quasi-experimental design. An independent t-test was run to analyze the data. The results indicated that strategic-based instruction plays a crucial role in EFL learners’ reading comprehension ability, which should be taken into account by teachers.
