The Effect of Internet on Students’ Academic Performance and Achievement

Higher education institutions have increasingly accepted the use of the information and communication technology as a tool for learning, collaboration, communication, development, curriculum, and work development. Due to being updated and the extensive range of information, Internet is the first indicator of manifestation of the information age. The purpose of the present study is to evaluate the effect of Internet use on academic performance and achievement of undergraduate students in Semnan university of Medical Sciences. Using stratified random sampling 364 of them were chosen for the sample of the research. The research method in terms of purpose is practical, data collection tools in this study is researcher made questionnaire. The results indicate that information and communication technology, especially Internet, has a significant effect on students academic performance and achievement. In other words, information and communication technology has an undeniable effect on the mission of universities in education and training dimensions.
