Recently, it was observed that nanostructured zirconia, ZrO2, powder exhibits enhanced performance in many applications. We report hydrothermal method for the synthesis of nano-crystalline ZrO2 powder, and its characterization by XRD and SEM techniques. Nano-size zirconia was prepared by hydrothermal method using commercial zirconia powder. The SEM of product obtained after hydrothermally treatment showed different morphology than the commercial zirconia. XRD study showed that moreover monoclinic phase, cubic and tetragonal phase was formed after alkali treatment by hydrothermal method. The nano-size zirconia obtained has average particle size in the range of 20-40 nm.
