The methods of the main mechanical relaxation temperatures, i.e. dynamic mechanical thermal
analyser (DMTA), and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) were considered to determine the
change at the glassy-rubbery transition, phase behavior, and the consequence effects on the gas
transport properties of ABS/PEG blend membranes (prepared by blending ABS with polyethylene
glycol (PEG) with different molecular weights). The results obtained by DMTA measurement
show only one main glass transition peak for ABS/PEG membranes. The PEG flexible EO bonds
cause to lowering the maximum value of tan δ peaks and a shift of glass transitions to lesser
values. The state of dispersion for the blends with low PEG molecular weights and the occurrence
of phase separation for that of high PEG molecular weights, concluded from the DSC test.
