While gas turbines are vulnerable to various kinds of disturbances and uncertainties, design of a proper controller which can ensure the robustness of engine performance, has attracted considerable attentions. In this investigation, a robust controller design is performed for the fuel control loop of gas turbine engine in presence of parametric and un-modeled dynamic uncertainty or structured uncertainty. These uncertainties are originated from the use of Weiner’s model of gas turbine. Furthermore, a limiting strategy is developed to assure the safe operation of engine. Gas turbine modeling is carried out through two different approaches. Initially, an object-oriented model of engine is developed by Modelica programming language. This model is considered as the exact model of engine. In addition, a simplified, first order model is designed established on Weiner’s principles. Robust designs are performed on this model. D-K iteration method is utilized to design the robust controller in the presence of un-modeled dynamic uncertainty sourced from the differences between Modelica and Weiner’ model. In addition, the designed controller has been applied to a limiting strategy including the exact model to assure the safe operation of gas turbine. Results are compromised by former results gained by considering parametric uncertainty in gas turbine model and by applying a classical PID controller to the system.
