The most common cause of death in our society is heart ischemia which caused by insufficient blood supply for heart muscle through coronary arteries. Coronary arteries have especial hemodynamic properties due to heart pulsatile motion. The purpose of the current study was analyzing the influence of left coronary artery motion on its flow rate. An experimental model of coronary artery was provided. A blood pressure simulator was designed and constructed. To simulate arterial motion a four-bar mechanism was used. Experiments were performed with and without arterial motion. Results were helpful to understand the heart muscle blood supply. It was observed that arterial motion increases flow rate in coronary arteries. The flow increase was about 4.6% for water as testing fluid.
