One of the most accurate models to predict the mechanical behavior of a porous material is the Gurson
modified model (GTN) which was used to simulate the behavior of API X65 steel in the present research. In order to
implement the GTN model parameters for API X65 steel, the single edge notched (SEN) specimen was tested according
to API 5L3 standard under a high capacity impact, drop weight tear testing (DWTT), machine and the fracture process
was completely simulated in ABAQUS. By calibrating the GTN parameters using experimental curve, the loaddisplacement
curve was plotted in ABAQUS. The effect of these parameters is visible after the crack propagation. With
minor changes in the value of void volume fraction (fN), the amount of predicted force in ABAQUS was not changed
significantly. In contrast, changing the amount of critical void volume fraction (fC) and also the total void volume
fraction at total failure (ff) had significant effect on amount of force in specific displacement. The value of these
parameters had also significant effects on the smoothness of the load-displacement curves.
