In order to observe the English language teaching activities at Junior High schools in Sanandaj and to evaluate whether or not the activities prepare students for communication, the researcher used two instruments. Firstly, he recorded three teaching activities of the three different teachers, each for around half an hour. Secondly, a questionnaire was made concerning the teaching activities and then it was piloted. Thirdly, 20 students were selected at the end of each teaching activities in the three different classes. They were asked to answer the questionnaire at the end of each video film concerning the teaching activities. Finally, based on the critical evaluation and analysis of video films and the questionnaire, the observer pinpointed the problems in the areas of, classes, books, students, and teachers. The findings showed that the teachers were not actually prepared to teach communicatively in spite of their attempts. Thus, it is necessary to hold in-service programs for teachers and to reduce the number of students in each class in addition to motivating students toward interactive activities. Moreover, the books should be revised by a group of eminent experts based on the latest research findings in language learning.
