Designing English for Specific Purpose Syllabus Based On Needs Analysis for Law Students Case Study: Islamic Azad University of Baneh

Need Analysis is essential before designing teaching materials for ESP. The research aims at investigating the learning needs of 50 law students, and designing English for Specific Purpose materials for law students based on Need Analysis. The research uses qualitative and quantitative methods. The results explain the real needs of students of English for Specific Purpose for law students, the instructors’ opinion on the practice of English for Specific Purpose instructions, and descriptions of English for Specific Purpose for law students used in English speaking countries. The results are very significant for designers of English for Specific Purpose of various fields for they indicate the real needs of law students. It is recommended that law English text should be based on the Need Analysis by English for Specific Purpose designers.
